Orange Blossom Champagne Cocktail

"Orange Blossom Champagne Cocktail," from Make It Like a Man!

This Orange Blossom Champagne Cocktail is reminiscent of a mimosa, without all that breakfastiness. Think of it as the mimosa you can have for dinner. It’s refreshing and easy to make.

Ingredients for 10-12 drinks:

½ cup + 2 Tbs Cointreau
½ cup + 2 Tbs Koval Orange Blossom liqueur
½ cup + 2 Tbs orange juice
2 bottles (750ml) of champagne or prosecco
1 orange, for garnishing (optional)

How to do it:

Mix together Cointreau, liqueur, and orange juice. Pour 1-1½ oz. into a champagne glass or flute. Fill the glass with champagne. (Add an orange peel twist as a garnish.)

I once heard someone refer to a champagne cocktail like this as a French mimosa, but I can’t verify it. There is a Prohibition-era gin cocktail that also goes by the name Orange Blossom, but it doesn’t have much in common with this champagne cocktail. Isn’t Orange Blossom what they’d call Trump if he were reincarnated as one of the Bond girls? Anyway, this champagne cocktail is nowhere near as intense as gin, but it’s far liqueurier[1] than a mimosa.

1. When I invented the word liqueurier, I wish I’d done it to describe a liquor service that delivers by bicyclist when you gotta have it now, and you gotta have it fast, no matter what kind of gridlock is out there. But it simply means “more booze.”

  1. This sounds (and looks) delicious. I love the aromatic taste of orange blossoms. I have some extract from back around Easter (used to make Neapolitan Easter Pie). I wonder if it might not work in this recipe if I can’t find orange blossom liqueur around here…

    • Is the extract soluble in alcohol? Maybe you could flavor a vodka with it.

  2. When you said this Orange Blossom Champagne Cocktail was reminiscent of a Mimosa Jeff I was immediately interested. Lynne is a huge fan of Mimosa’s and if I can find other verions or variations of Mimosa to make that she can try, then it’s points for me! Thanks for this! Or should I say cheers 😉

    • Well, I’d be curious to know what you think if you try it. Cheers!

  3. What a beautiful cocktail, and goes hand in hand with your gorgeous cake! I just love the flute you’ve used to showcase the cocktail, it is very similar to my wedding crystal (company: Peil, pattern Amadeus, sadly the company is now defunct). Speaking of gridlock, it took me two hours to cross the city a week or so ago, I sure could have used this cocktail when I got home!

    • Thank you! I got that flute (a set of eight) at an estate sale. I love estate sales! // Ugh, yes, Toronto often has awful traffic! Fortunately, it has so many wonderful other things going for it!

    • Hmm, I have a feeling I’d like that trip, but it’d be long … I might wind up drinking the champagne along the way.

    • Haha! I was thinking that if he did come back, he’d deserve to come back as they type of woman he’d disrespect.

  4. Your photos are dramatic and beautiful. So many interesting cocktails … maybe I’ll have to expand my habits as a wine drinker.

  5. Gridlock. Yes, I know it well. Bicycle booze service, however, has not made it to LA. No wonder I don’t know the word liqueurier… GREG

    • One day, I shall be king of the bicycle booze delivery service…
